April 12th Opening – Here’s everything you need to know

by Mar 25, 2021News

With the news announced by the government that we could open on April 12th we always knew there would be some guidance that we would have to go through and try and work out the best way to provide you with the first class coaching you have come to expect.

Upon arrival at the gym your temperature is still required to be checked and you are not currently allowed to change in the gym or spectate. We are not allowed to have adult classes until May the 17th. We have decided the easiest way for you to be able to train, whilst still being able to seek guidance from our experienced coaches is to still give you a timetable to book on. Classes for under 16 (Mini Ninjas, Juniors and Teen) will be going ahead as usual with the exception of Teen MMA due to coach Ollie having to move away we are still in the process of recruiting and training a new coach to take over.

You will see that the timetable contains the class time and discipline. You can book on, turn up and train with the relevant coach on hand to answer any of your questions and to offer guidance during these time slots. These are now called Supervised Open Mat Sessions.

We strongly recommend that you train with a bubble partner which is someone you live with or have formed a social bubble with as solo drills are difficult to accommodate in large numbers with limited punch bags and dummies available.

This is the perfect time to not only get your routine back but also to prepare your bodies and brains for normal training. Conditioning your aerobic and anaerobic systems, as well as your body takes time and you may have lost some muscle memory, elasticity and overall conditioning over the last few months. A gradual return to training like this is ideal to break your bodies back in gently and ultimately avoid any more time off through injury.

On May 17th we will be returning to the same Covid secure classes you became familiar with during the later part of 2020 and on June 21st we are allowed to go back to normal. Expect a revamped timetable and busy classes!

You will be able to book these supervised open mat sessions from Monday March 29th.

Thank you for all of your support, patience and dedication you have all shown to date. This hasn’t been an easy journey for any of us but together we are stronger, the end is in sight!

See you on the mats.
